Today is my 2nd LVAD anniversary or ‘VADiversary’. Two years ago, I had my LVAD (HeartMate3, HM3) device implanted inside my heart. The purpose of this pump is to help my failing heart function better.
It has been a tough journey, of hardworking, heart, focus, discipline, and patience. Thankfully, our efforts seem to be paying off and we know that all of these challenges and lessons learned could be helpful to others besides me. I am super grateful for my family for carrying me through all of this. I appreciate the sacrifices, the deferred dreams, and the adapted hopes. Big thanks to all my friends, thanks for staying connected despite my hiatuses, and my tardy replies…
Special thanks for my medical teams (Heart and Vascular Center, VAD Nurse Team, Cardiac surgery, Infectious diseases) and all the other staff great members involved at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. All of whom are going beyond and above to put me in a position to succeed in dealing with my Hearthealth issues.
I am particularly appreciative of the other part of my health system – Allways Partners Health (ex-NHP, my insurance), Abbott/Thoratec (the makers of the pump system implanted inside my heart), Alere (home care and medical supplies provider), and my pharmacists (CVs, Walgreens/Rite Aid).
Lastly, I am forever thankful to all of you who are supporting us and making every day better, be it from close or from afar.
Thank you.
