Life In Boston – Falling Into Winter

It has been a little over a year since our family has relocated to Boston due to my illness. Despite the cold winter that is slowly descending upon us, I can say that city-life has been enjoyable. But like all things, getting back into the swing of things as the dust settles can prove to be a challenging feat all in itself as well.

Moreover, we have recently moved into our new place in Lower Mills. Conveniently located centrally to various restaurant, health food stores, coffee houses, and more, it seemed to be an ideal place for an active lifestyle. On top of the close proximity to various necessities, it’s also conveniently littered with bike paths, kayaking, and hiking within walking distance. Some landmarks in particular are the Lower Neponset River Trail along the Neponset River. This trail in particular spans around 5 miles from Dorchester into to the city of Milton. You can definitely take in the natural sites as you walk, run, or ride along the trail.

We also have a small fitness centre in our building, so I try my best to keep active every so often using that space. My son joins in the fun, but because of my improved health, he really cannot keep up with me any more! He is now my fitness coach, coaxing me to go “faster!” See here.

We are heavily distracted with our day-to-day lives that we fail to see the beauty that clearly surrounds us. Spiritual or not, we also need to spend some time realizing that there are clearly plenty of things that life has to offer – in both large and small packages. I have slowly fallen in love with the quaint charm of Boston. The city looks more and more beautiful with every passing day – from the landscape of trees that endlessly line the historically rich paved roads, the passing seasons, to the deep conversations with people of various walks of life and traditions.
