I am officially putting the good folks of Abbott on my Gratitude Wall! A few days ago, I was touched to find out that some of the employees at Abbott in Pleasanton, CA named their team Heart Walk team after me – Heartofagiant. Thank you so much! I appreciate you so much for making the system that is helping my heart keep beating.

Abbott Burlington MA and Pleasanton CA

I meet a lot of people but I wonder how many truly connect? A lot of people hear me speak, but how

many truly listen? I speak a lot but how much of it mean anything?

• I met the folks at the R&D facility of Abbott Labs Burlington (ex-Thoratec) in June 2018, 18 months after my HeartMate3 LVAD procedure. It was a great deal to meet the people behind the pump that is keeping me going. It was great meeting them and we still keep in touch, talking, and meeting regularly. I am grateful for their work, dedication, and care.

• Forward to June 2019, they invited us to their Pleasanton-CA offices. There I got to see the whole manufacturing process. I am an engineer, so, this was bigger than life. More friends, more connections.

• I can go on and on about the emails, messages, career coaching, events, lunches, coffees, friendships, … true to their mantra – “always, remember the patient”.
