I celebrated my birthday on October 13. This same day also marks my anniversary being on the waiting list for a heart transplant, at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston MA.

My re-evaluation in order to remain on the list a few days ago went well. So far, I have managed to maintain my weight, to remain compliant with my therapy whilst living a fairly good lived experience. Thanks to the good outcomes so far, the review by my medical team was shorter than my initial evaluation (half a day instead of five days two years ago). On the day of the review, I met with the nutritionist, the pharmacist, the social work, and the financial coordinator. I also had some blood tests done.

With regards to life, the attitude remains the same:
Ça Va Aller (meaning everything will be alright).

When living with my condition, the margin for error is very small. Hence, I feel very appreciative and fortunate for this milestone. I will continue to prepare myself physically, mentally, and spiritually for the next phases of this medical journey.

Although patience is often a challenge, the journey continues. Thankfully, I’ve been doing pretty ok at being patient, some days are tough to deal with, some are tough to forget and others tough to accept. In any case, I’ll strive to pursue living with courage, grace, and character.
