As a board member of the Heart of a Giant Foundation, members are expected to fulfill the following minimum obligations to support the organization's mission and success:
Attendance and Participation:
Regularly attend and actively participate in board meetings.
Contribute thoughtful insights and perspectives to discussions.
Engage in decision-making processes to ensure the foundation's effectiveness.
Participate in at least one Board Committee when asked
Financial Oversight:
Review and approve the organization's budget.
Scrutinize financial reports to ensure accuracy and transparency.
Help establish and maintain sound financial controls for responsible resource management.
Fundraising:
Make a personal financial contribution that aligns with your capacity.
Utilize your personal and professional networks to identify potential donors and funding sources.
Participate in fundraising initiatives and events to support the foundation's financial sustainability.
Strategic Planning:
Collaborate in the development of HGF’s long-term strategic plan.
Ensure the plan aligns with the mission, vision, and goals of the organization.
Actively participate in the implementation and evaluation of the strategic plan's progress.
Advocacy and Promotion:
Serve as an ambassador for the foundation within your personal and professional circles.
Promote the foundation's mission, programs, and impact to raise awareness and support.
Identify opportunities for collaboration and partnerships to expand the foundation's reach.
Compliance and Governance:
Ensure the organization’s compliance with legal requirements and regulations applicable to nonprofit organizations.
Adhere to HGF's bylaws, policies, and procedures to maintain good governance practices.
