Heart of a Giant

A Day to Remember

On a beautiful fall day in October 2024, the Heart of a Giant Foundation hosted its very first Community Heart Walk. What began as a vision to unite our community around heart health became a powerful celebration of resilience, solidarity, and hope.

Community members of all ages gathered for a morning of walking, wellness activities, and connection. The energy was palpable, families, survivors, healthcare professionals, and volunteers all came together for a shared purpose.

Free Health Screenings

Trained healthcare professionals provided free blood pressure screenings throughout the event. Many participants learned their numbers for the first time, and several received referrals for follow-up care, a reminder of why accessible, community-based health services are so critical.

Community Wellness Activities

Beyond the walk itself, attendees enjoyed health education stations, heart-healthy cooking demonstrations, fitness activities, and opportunities to connect with local health resources. The event was designed to be inclusive and accessible to all ages and fitness levels.

Survivor Stories

One of the most powerful moments of the day was hearing from heart disease survivors who shared their journeys. Their stories of diagnosis, treatment, and recovery inspired everyone present and underscored the importance of early detection and community support.

Looking Forward

The success of our inaugural walk has set the foundation for what we hope will become an annual tradition. In 2025, we returned even bigger and bolder with the 2025 Boston Community Heart Walk, which drew over 350 participants and raised $12,000 for heart health programs.
