In the prelude to the Boston Heart Walk, we had an interview with the Boston Herald. Fellow LVAD recipient, Julius Johnson, and I talked about how facing heart disease brought us together to become friends.
It was a pleasure working with Shelley Lange (Abbott), Alicia Bardaro (Weber Shandwick), Alexi Cohan (Boston Herald), Jim Mahoney (Boston Herald), and others during the process.
Nice job with the interview, the piece is excellent! It touched me a lot! I kept re-reading it and tearing up. Thanks for showing me what this journey is like from a different angle.
The 2019 Boston Heart Walk
The 2019 Heart Walk was a huge success. Despite the weather scare, everyone came through. Rain, wind or shine, nothing could stop us. Everyone showed up!
I also had my sister Aguene (who lives in Paris, France) join us remotely with friends. I called them my Légion Étrangère (Foreign Legion).
A special shoutout to JJ for walking with us. His courage and spirit embody everything the Heart Walk stands for, community, resilience, and the power of shared experience.
